The KOAA News 5 YouTube video page says “7 people dead, including suspect, at birthday party in mobile home community…” The incident is still under investigation. “Colorado Springs Police confirm seven people are dead after a shooting at mobile home subdivision on the southeast side of the city.” It remains to be seen what connection, if any, the matter may have with the corporate owner of the property, RHP Properties.
As regular readers of MHProNews and MHLivingNews know, RHP has developed an ostensibly troubling reputation. But that may or may not be a background item in this still developing story.
While RHP has been developing a certain reputation, this could be connected to the broader social pressures, or perhaps more ordinary – but still gut-wrenching – domestic violence.
The reports linked above reflect more insights on RHP specifically, while the one below shed light on the broader social issues.
In a related report on the shooting at the RHP Property from KOAA, more appropriate nomenclature was used: “According to police, a call came in just after midnight for a shooting inside the Canterbury Manufactured Home Community. Officers found multiple people dead in the area, without giving an exact number of people who have died. They do believe the suspect and victims knew each other.” But the dead are still tragically dead either way.
KOAA also said the following.
Upon arrival, officers located six adults dead and one with critical injuries, who later died at the hospital. According to police, a birthday party was being held at the home when the boyfriend of a female victim arrived and killed the adults before taking his own life.
There were children attending the party who were not wounded in the shooting. Police say those children are now with family members.
The tragic event has neighbors speechless who say they never expected a mass shooting to take place right outside of their front door.
“I have been thinking that all morning that we live somewhere and we have no idea who are neighbors are and that’s incredible,” neighbor Yeniefer Reyes said.
