SavannahNow reports the first of six modular homes that comprise the Wharf Street affordable housing project in Bluffton, South Carolina, just west of Hilton Head, is set to arrive this week. General contractor Beaufort Construction, Inc., has been building the foundations while the houses are being manufactured by Crestline Custom Builders, LLC, of Laurinburg, North Carolina. Ranging in size from 408 square feet to 1,391 square feet, the remaining five modular houses are scheduled to arrive within two weeks. Prospective homebuyers must meet income eligibility and residency requirements, be a first time homebuyer, and take a homebuyer education course. Down payment assistance may also be available. The $1,046,788 estimated cost includes $682,369 from Neighborhood Stabilization Program grant funding, a $150,000 HOME Grant from the Lowcountry Council of Governments, $202,795 from program proceeds reinvestment, and $11,624 from the town of Bluffton.
