A red ribbon tied around a new manufactured home in Charleston, South Carolina was not a sales gimmick. The home is a gift for Doris and Neal Davis who lost their older home to a fire in May of this year. The John’s Island couple was chosen from more than 17,000 entries in the first Clayton Dream Home Giveaway, according to The Post and Courier. Earlier this year Doris and her family were awakened to a house fire by the barking of their loyal dog, Princess. The chocolate Labrador saved their lives, but unfortunately their home and possessions burned to the ground that night. The prize package includes a 2,300-square-foot manufactured home in a style of their choosing, plus appliances for a total value of $150,000 Tony Masarelli told the paper the couple was chosen through a completely random process. According to the article Clayton is paying any taxes associated with the award.
