In a letter to MHProNews.com, Joe Kelly, executive vice-president of the Iowa Manufactured Housing Association (IMHA), says there were 121 orders for modular homes in the third quarter 2011, five more than in the same period last year. This ranks Iowa sixth in the survey of 29 states in modular home shipments for Q3 2011. Last year Iowa took the eighth spot among the 29 states surveyed. Modular homes made up 5.4 percent of the total permits in the state for third quarter 2011, ranking Iowa number eight in percentage of modular building permits.
