This list will be periodically updated, but as of 10.30.2013, and GovTrack reports the bill has 99 cosponsors, including 17 Democrats and 82 Republicans.
It is a ‘technical fix’ to amend provisions of the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), to modify the definitions of a mortgage originator and a high-cost mortgage. This is necessary for a variety of reasons, as manufactured home personal property loans tend to have shorter loan terms and smaller balances, but still have a similar cost to originate and are often more costly to service as much larger mortgage balances on conventional housing. A companion U.S. Senate bill is anticipated to be filed during the month of November. Companion lobbying efforts to get the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) have already born some fruit on the so-called “LO Comp rule” and more but ideally more work is needed. So every added legislator on this counts!
