SACU names Hennigan president

Sacu logo(SAN ANTONIO, TX) – San Antonio Federal Credit Union (SACU) announced this week that Stephen S. Hennigan has assumed the title of president and will continue as chief operating officer (COO), effective February 1, 2011. Jeffrey H. Farver, former president, will continue to serve the credit union as chief executive officer (CEO) until his retirement, slated for January 2, 2012.

Hennigan began his career at SACU in 1993 as the director of treasury management. He was integrally involved in creating the CUSO (Credit Union Service Organization) Credit Union Factory Built Lending (CUFBL), which is now a division of SACU providing financing options for credit union members choosing manufactured housing as an alternative to traditional site-built homes. Hennigan was named the NAFCU’s Credit Union Professional of the Year in 2008, a national award presented to an outstanding professional in the field annually. He received a BBA in finance and accounting from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

“SACU is committed to providing an orderly succession plan to make the transition from one CEO to the next as seamless as possible. In July 2010, the board of directors made the decision to name Steve Hennigan as SACU’s next president and chief executive officer. The entire executive team rallied to begin the transition. This is the first public announcement of that decision. We are grateful to all of our employees who have supported us in these preparations,” Jeff Farver said.

SACU is a $2.9 billion credit union, serving more than 253,000 members with 18 locations in San Antonio, one location in Houston and in communities across the country through our manufactured housing division. The credit union provides convenience to members through a network of ATMs in the greater San Antonio area and provides benefits through competitive yields on savings, lower loan rates, and reasonably priced financial services. There are hundreds of ways to qualify for membership at SACU. Visit www.sacu.com or call 210-258-1234 or 1-800-688-SACU (7228) for information.
