CTV in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada tells MHProNews.com that people displaced by the flooding of Lake Manitoba eight months ago are finally getting a more permanent place to live. Manitoba Housing has brought in 15 modular homes to house flood victims in St. Laurent on the southeastern edge of the lake. Province officials say residents can remain in the temporary homes for up to two years, and then will have the option of buying. Some of the victims have been living in a senior’s lodge. It is unclear how many of the homes damaged by the flooding are salvageable. The province plans to provide similar housing for flood victims at Lake St. Martin, north of Lake Manitoba.
