Last “Wednesday was the deadline to meet the polling and fundraising thresholds for September’s Democratic presidential debates, and ten candidates have made the cut. Tarini Parti of the Wall Street Journal joined “Red & Blue” to discuss the day’s news on the campaign trail.” This left-of-center CBS News video is a week old, but does a good job of summing up those who will be part of the planned debate later this week.

Left-of-center Time Magazine, which produced some scathing covers about candidate and now president Donald J. Trump, produced this video that gives their take on the 2020 Democratic field.

Refinery 29 said this is the status of the announced candidates: Several candidates have recently dropped out, including Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, and California Rep. Eric Swalwell.”

Who did not qualify for the September Democratic debate?

Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard; author Marianne Williamson; billionaire executive Tom Steyer; Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet; Montana Gov. Steve Bullock; New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio; former Maryland Rep. John Delaney; Miramar, FL, Mayor Wayne Messam; Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan; and former Pennsylvania Rep. Joe Sestak did not meet the DNC’s requirements for the third debate.”

Here is the latest snapshot from Real Clear Politics on polling among 2020 Democrats for their party’s nomination.

One time potential independent candidate, Democratic supporter and “Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced Friday that he will not run for president after exploring a run earlier this year,” per left-of-center CNBC.

Several of the 2020 Democrats have made increasingly left-leaning views, more in keeping with what Senator Bernie Sanders campaigned on in 2016.  Sanders supporters must ponder how much their candidate has influence the Democratic Party, even though Sanders is a self-proclaimed independent with democratic socialist’ views.

With President Donald J. Trump heading to North Carolina to campaign for a political rally in Fayetteville, NC. He will be campaigning on behalf of Republican Dan Bishop for a district long held by Republicans.  But the district has undergone change, and it will be an interesting test of the president’s ability to rally those who didn’t align with him during 2016.

With much at stake in 2020 in terms of the direction of federal policy, MHProNews will continue to track issues that relate to how it may shape voting, investments, affordable housing, and manufactured homes.

The Trump Administration has made several initiatives that have proven useful to manufactured housing industry investors and businesses.  HUD Secretary Ben Carson has arguably done more than any 21st century predecessor. But some are pushing for more, given concerns over the consolidation of the marketplace, often by giant firms whose leaders have more left-wing tendencies.  Stay tuned.
