So said Bob Hill in response to watching this video that was produced in the runup to the 2016 election. It is a video and address that Rush Limbaugh spotlighted on his radio show today, so doubtlessly many will watch or listen again – or for the first time.
To some, this video and the quote from Bob Hill will resonate. To others, they will have a former President Barack Obama moment.
Here’s another pull quote.
“On election day when my husband and I went to vote, he told me that he knew in his heart, that casting his vote for Trump, would be the last chance he would have, to do what he could, to help this country. On election night
as we watched the results come in, sat in disbelief as it became obvious that Trump would be our next President, my husband had tears in his eyes. I asked why? He said because he knew that now, the fight to
take our country back, had truly begun and he only wished that he could be part of that. For more that 16 years, he had fought to live and he beat the odds many times over. His body weakened but his spirit unbroken, he finally was called home a few months later. And it is up to me, to you, to all of us who love America, to stay the course — Not give into to fear or be discouraged. For too long America has been sold out by corrupt politicians and their cronies. This country belongs to us — Not to the highest bidder.” – Nia the Gulf Gypsy.
Former Ohio Governor John Kasich, a well-known ‘never-Trumper,’ told CNN that no one in Ohio is talking about this latest impeachment move in Congress. Have Democratic leaders cried wolf too many times?
It is worth recalling what former president of the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) president, Danny Ghorbani, said with respect to the election of President Trump.
It is also good to recall that the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI), just days before the 2016 election had not one, but two pro-Clinton speakers on their stage in a Chicago, IL event. An MHI staffer projected that the Democrats could retake both houses of Congress. By contrast, dozens of attendees were pulling for then candidate Trump.
From comments posted on that 2016 Trump rally video again, Rick Porter said: “#Qanon sent me again. This video never gets old. It’s history in the making. Please share this video with everyone. #WWG1WGA”
In citing these quotes, keep the principle of the wheat and chaff in mind.
There may be an electable moderate Democrat that could rise to the surface. But with less than 14 months out to the election, there are presently numerous 2020 hopefuls who are promising, promising what businessman and former Congressman John Delaney said is “fairy tale economics.” Certainly, Equity LifeStyle Properties (ELS) Chairman Sam Zell is hoping so, because he is among those who have bet on Delaney.
This writer, as regular readers know, became a U.S. citizen last summer. I’ve seen these ‘promises, promises’ tactics used in my native country. Our publisher, from a historic perspective, has also pointed to the many times in history that big promises were made by socialists/communists promising ‘free stuff’ – and Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, communist Cuba, and the Venezuelan tragedies were the result.
No one has to believe that President Trump is a saint, he doesn’t claim to be. But he’s done what that video posted above said he would do. He’s trying to drain the swamp. But there is a lot of swamp to drain. More on that further below.
Make no mistake. Millions are being gaslighted, as many objective thinkers realize. “Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a targeted group, making them question their own memory, perception, and sanity,” said Wikipedia. An echo chamber is in place where an allegation is made, its repeated, and generates an ‘if there is smoke, there must be fire’ response from an anti-Trump base.
As that Trump rally highlight video posted above said, there is a cabal that seeks to enrich itself. Their power, said President Trump, is at stake. So, they have and will continue to repeat their pattern. The anti-Trump forces are arguably hoping that if enough mud is thrown, some will stick. No doubt, with those that want to believe the smoke generation, it does.
Stark Contrast Ahead
It is possible that Senators Warren or Sanders may do something substantive with respect to antitrust, RICO, or other steps to enforce good laws that might actually make a difference to our industry. Its possible. Is it likely?
We’ve not seen the evidence yet. Indeed, the evidence is that Senator Warren is playing along – out of ignorance or willingly – with the Warren Buffett funded MHAction story line in Iowa.
Senator Elizabeth Warren Takes Aim, Blasting Again MHI Member Company in 2020 Campaign Stop
We’ve seen the documents and evidence of how Buffett’s circle is at work on enhanced preemption or the Duty to Serve.
We’ve also seen that no HUD Secretary in the 21st century has done more than Dr. Ben Carson has to promote the industry. That said, there is work to be done. It is an open question if Secretary Carson is aware of enhanced preemption and how he could break the logjam for more affordable housing.
We have also seen that MHI, time and again, only pivots to the correct position for the industry after months or years of holding the wrong position. Meanwhile, consolidation of the industry continues.
Under Pressure, MHI Pivots “HUD Must Implement and Enforce its Enhanced Preemption Authority”
Only sustained push-back to the established order will work. It is obvious to most that the ‘system is rigged,’ both sides of the two major party political aisle are saying it. The question for our industry’s professionals is, how does this rigged system impact our industry?
Another question is, which side will you believe? Where is the evidence pointing as to who is to be trusted, and who is to be distrusted?
President Trump’s Administration Has Cut Regulations, But Increased Others – Net Results?
Long-time readers of MHProNews know that we like good quotes, and they come from all sides of the political and industry spectrum. Those quotes are a snapshot of a moment in time. The speaker or writer may or may not have evolved since that comment was made. But that doesn’t diminish their value.
Legacy Housing’s Curt Hodgson said that the industry is made up of many short-term thinkers.
That’s the flip side of Warren Buffett’s statement that people don’t learn the lessons of history.
This battle with the Omaha-Knoxville-Arlington axis and their allies is going to continue.
Just as President Trump’s battle hasn’t stopped fighting for a plainly stated agenda since he rode down that golden escalator in Trump tower in 2015, so too the battle against the powers-that-be that manipulate the industry to the disadvantage of millions of Americans and thousands of industry independents continues too.
There’s a lot going on in MHVille and our nation. There is smoke generation by the allies of the Omaha-Knoxville-Arlington axis.
