Scott Stropkai with Statistical Surveys stressed that he is neutral, “Swiss” as he put it to MHProNews yesterday when it comes to manufactured housing industry controversies. For his firm, which has been producing data for over a half-century, statistics are just that, stats.
Stropkai may never have dreamed a few months ago that information about something like “market share” – MS in the chart below – might be considered ‘controversial.’ He plainly doesn’t want to be drawn into contentious issues. Our publication respects that stance.
That’s in many ways the ideal source, one that wants neutrality. A source that ‘has no dog in the hunt.’ So, MHProNews gladly agreed to stress in this report when using his data his and his firm’s “neutrality.”

That report linked above sheds light on what a disputed data point may be more important that it initially appears to be. The right question might be this. Why would one or more publicly traded firms in manufactured housing use and/or the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) which they are members of use incorrect data, when they are periodically purchasing the same data from that same neutral source?
