GoUpstate tells us the Spartanburg City Council in South Carolina is considering raising the fees on MHC owners to offset the cost of inspections so taxpayers are not subsidizing the expense of the inspectors. Other changes in the ordinance amending the original land management measure deal with lighting and setback for manufactured homes. At one time, MHProNews.com learned, nearly 20 percent of South Carolina residents lived in manufactured housing. Mark Dillard, executive director of the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina (MHISC), takes tongue-in-cheek credit for that high number.
