“The man found dead after an explosion in the Harmony Village manufactured home park Monday night died by suicide,” reported the USA Today owned Coloradoan.
“The Fort Collins Police Department (FCPD) and Poudre Fire Authority responded to the scene at 2500 E. Harmony Road just before 7 p.m., near the intersection of Harmony and South Timberline Road, along with the Northern Colorado Bomb Team,” said NBC News 9.
“Poudre Fire responded to assist with both the injuries that the victim sustained and to fight the fire, FCPD said in a news release. When officers and firefighters arrived, the residence was fully engulfed with flames. FCPD said a deceased person was located inside the residence and is believed to be the male the woman called about,” said NBC News 9, which added that “There were concerns related to the explosion, FCPD said, so as a precaution for public safety, the surrounding residences were evacuated and the bomb squad responded to ensure the scene was safe.”
That was July 7. Two days later, on July 9, CBS Local reported “Man Who Intentionally Caused Mobile Home Explosion Took His Own Life.” Note that the base photo for the featured image above comes from this same source.
The coroner’s report stated that Jeremy Parks, 45, took his own life and set the explosion.
Law enforcement was called in response to a report of Parks’ attacking a woman. Before officers arrived, the home in question had exploded and was already ablaze.
The FCPD updated their report with this on their website.
Fort Collins Police Lieutenant Adam McCambridge said, “Incidents like these are traumatic for all involved, and cause great concern for our community. The Fort Collins Police and Poudre Fire Authority will always work in collaboration with one another to ensure public safety.”
That official FCPD source said that “as a precaution for public safety, the surrounding residences were evacuated and the Northern Colorado Bomb Squad responded to ensure that the scene was safe. The Northern Colorado Bomb Squad determined that the scene was safe, and Fort Collins Police Detectives have taken over the investigation.”
The FCPD is asking for anyone with additional information to step forward, adding “No further information will be released at this time.”
The investigation is apparently ongoing.
RHP Properties, Bayshore Home Sales, and Harmony Village in Fort Collins, CO
Manufactured home communities giant RHP Properties owns Harmony Village in Fort Collins, CO, according to their Bayshore Home Sales affiliate website.
The property description reflects several amenities. The Bayshore Home Sales page talks about how “RHP Gives.”
Specifically, “At RHP, we believe in giving back to our communities through charitable ways. Whether it’s donating money, food, toys, or just simply volunteering our time, we feel it’s important to help our communities in more ways than only one.
For the past 15 years, RHP has supported the Farmington Area Goodfellows.”
Be that as it may, the Google rating from over 200 posted reviews is 3.3 stars. One of the posted questions reads, “Why the heck do they [RHP’s Harmony Village community management] allow seven or eight felons who are addicted to meth and heroin live in this neighborhood.” A response to that posted by Gina Fishkind said in response, “Call the manager?!! LoL she is non existent. She is the most unhelpful person on planet earth.”
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) at this time reports a rating of C, apparently due to various complaints involving that location. The collage below is based on BBB information on 7.20.2020.

Why does manufactured housing struggle? There are a number of factors. Those factors can be logically be influenced at the local level, but certainly are influenced by regional and national news reports like this incident.
Well qualified customers are likely to do their homework. These are the types of facts that a few google searches would reveal. This is a ‘leading’ firm in the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI). Others larger firms are like it.
It could be a coincidence. Or, perhaps birds of a feather flock together and seek the cover of smaller firms with better reputations?
