SEC Suit Hits Cavco, Joe Stegmayer, Dan Urness, Former Skyline Champion Official – Painful Truth’s Steadily Emerging, plus Sunday Weekly Headlines Review

The SEC press release is also included, along with our industry leading added information, analysis and commentary. In the wake of that SEC announcement, Cavco’s stock dipped. No surprises there. As communications with federal officials may in time reflect, this could be the next of several such issues that emerge that involve significant Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) members.
MHI’s code of ethical conduct and antitrust statements may sound nice on paper. But as the trend in recent years is increasingly revealing, simply posturing a corporate position is not necessarily the same as adhering to those principles. That report and others make the keen distinction between MHProNews, MHLivingNews, and all other trade media in our profession clearer once again. With one notable exception that still tilts toward MHI, most publishers and bloggers are evidently little more than house organs for MHI and their dominating brands.
There are real world consequences to breaking the law. For example, per the Cornel University Law website, the following relates to the penalties and risks that can be incurred due to specific aspects of violating antitrust law.
Up to $100 Million Fine for Corporation, Natural Person – $1 Million Fine and/or Up to 10 Years Imprisonment
“Every person who shall monopolize, or attempt to monopolize, or combine or conspire with any other person or persons, to monopolize any part of the trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations, shall be deemed guilty of a felony, and, on conviction thereof, shall be punished by fine not exceeding $100,000,000 if a corporation, or, if any other person, $1,000,000, or by imprisonment not exceeding 10 years, or by both said punishments, in the discretion of the court.
For those who have been sitting on the fence in recent years as the increasingly obvious conspiracy to undermine manufactured housing from within have unfolded, consider the above.

Postscript – Robert “Bob” Van Cleef, Rest In Peace
MHProNews got word yesterday from Bob’s son that his father has died of a heart condition. We do not have all the details for a complete obituary, which we plan to post on MHLivingNews in the near term.
Robert “Bob” Van Cleef and this writer agreed on much, disagreed on other items. But we at MHProNews appreciated his efforts to proclaim the good part of manufactured home living while still calling to account those who are engaged in “predatory” behavior.
Bob routinely opened his commentaries by sharing how much he and his wife enjoyed their manufactured home. It was against that backdrop that he framed his evidence-based concerns.
Bob will be missed personally and by numerous others that he was working to protect from predatory behavior.
He is an example that others should follow and build upon.
In dying, he reminds us that we will all one day face our maker and that meeting may come unexpectedly.
May his soul, and the souls of all the faithfully departed, Rest In Peace.
The time is always right to do the right thing. That is true in business as well as in every other aspect of our lives. God bless Bob and all those who are fighting for freedom, now and always. ##
