Stating the obvious, there were those involved in manufactured housing who hated President Donald J. Trump. Perhaps at or near the top among those was one Warren Buffett, Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK), the conglomerate the owns Clayton Homes, 21st Mortgage Corporation, Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance (VMF) and other manufactured housing connected brands. Those brands wield an outsized influence over the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) and their state association affiliates. Who says? A longtime award-winning state executive who served for years in MHEC – the Manufactured Housing Executive Council – which includes representation from the MHI and the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR). The case can also be made that ten of thousands of manufactured housing industry professionals liked, preferred, or even ‘loved’ President Trump. Trump appointed and the Senate confirmed as HUD Secretary Benjamin Solomon “Ben” Carson Sr., M.D. Then Secretary Carson and POTUS (President of the United States) Trump provided certain victories for the industry in Washington, D.C., although in fairness it must be said that there was still more work to be done. What is increasingly beyond question is that the Biden Administration is failing manufactured housing. If public polling surveys are deemed reliable and special election and other campaign results are any indication, a so-called red tide is building that could oust from the U.S. House of Representatives potentially dozens of Democrats supporting the Biden agenda. While that would leave executive and administrative action, some of the more damaging and inflationary fueling aspects of the Biden White House era will be halted, presuming Republicans stay true to their list of promises to American if they are given back control of Congress and ultimately the White House.

NASHVILLE — Donald Trump traveled here, to the annual “Faith and Freedom Coalition” policy conference, an event billed by its organizers as the premier national gathering for conservative activists who happen to be people of the Christian faith, to condemn enemies and rebuke old friends, to relive triumphs and revisit gripes, to settle scores and to solidify his grip on the religious right.
The former president spoke to a packed-to-capacity crowd in the ballroom of the Gaylord Opryland for more than an hour and a half, jumping between prepared remarks and inspired insults. It was fire and brimstone from the hip.
Former Vice President Mike Pence, his most loyal lieutenant until the day he refused to overturn the 2020 election, was “a human conveyer belt.” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, the Kentucky Republican who backed Pence’s decision to certify the election results, “an old broken-down crow.” Rep. Adam Schiff, the California Democrat helping to lead the January 6 Committee investigation, meanwhile, was just “a bad human being.” Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, “a mob boss.”
At a moment when nearly 70% of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, Trump mostly skimmed over topics like inflation and the economy. President Biden was an afterthought Friday, even as Republicans prepare to make the midterms a referendum on his tenure. These were Trump’s first remarks since the House investigation of the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol, and Trump had his own counterprograming prepared.
He compared that new investigation to the old “hoaxes,” inviting his supporters, if they hadn’t already, to dismiss out of hand Democrat allegations that he fomented an insurrection: “Just insert January 6th instead of Russia, Russia, Russia.”
“It’s no coincidence that all of the same people who staged the ‘Russia, Russia, Russia’ hoax are now pushing this insurrection hoax,” Trump continued. And the longer Trump held forth on what he saw as his past and present mistreatment, the more prophetic Sen. Lindsey Graham sounded.
The two remain close, speaking frequently and sharing meals often. “I’m playing golf with him on Sunday,” the South Carolina Republican told RealClearPolitics during a backstage interview. And there is “no question” in Graham’s mind that Trump remains the leader of the GOP even after more than a year out of office. “Just look at polling,” the senator said. “he’s the strongest force in the Republican Party.”
Politicians generally need a reason to obsess over poll numbers. Trump’s motivation is obvious. He has been publicly flirting with another White House run for months, and Graham told RCP the nomination is already his if he wants it. “I don’t think anyone can beat him in a primary if he runs a disciplined campaign,” he said. “Now can he win again, yeah, but he is going to have to get back the people that he lost.” Who are the voters who have gone astray? “Suburban women.” Were they still turned off by the way the Trump presidency ended, and would that keep them from returning to the Trump fold? Graham doubts it.
The senator said that was “a terrible day for the country” and hopes “the people who defiled the Capitol go to jail.” But he doesn’t have faith in the commission set up to investigate those riots and by this point “January 6 is baked in the cake.”
“I think what will be outcome determinative is can President Trump stay disciplined enough to talk about fixing the problems that Biden has created,” Graham told RCP before rattling off a list of Trump’s accomplishments: Energy independence, countering Russian aggression in Europe, peace agreements in the Middle East, Operation Warp Speed to deliver the COVID vaccine. “If he can talk about, ‘I’m the guy that can fix the problems that’s been created, then he’s got a damn good chance of winning,” Graham insisted before pausing to add, “if it is a grievance campaign, then he is gonna have a problem.”
If Trump heard that advice before, he wasn’t ready to take it to heart Friday. While he checked off each of the policy boxes Graham outlined, he spent more time savaging his enemies than highlighting his accomplishments.
“They know that we are leading in every single poll, both Republicans and Democrats,” the previous president said of the January 6 Committee, “and they don’t like that.” After all, he added, that investigation was being led by “very vicious people.” The whole thing was “a theatrical production of political fiction.” Perhaps most damning, at least in Trump’s mind, the primetime hearings are “getting terrible ratings.”
Maybe this routine won’t work later down the road, but the conservative faithful gathered in Nashville were on board. They liked being teased. When Trump mentioned the next Republican president, asking “I wonder who that will be,” the crowd erupted. And when Trump asked outright, “Would anybody like me to run for president?” they were on their feet chanting “USA! USA! USA!”
Other potential presidential contenders have already introduced themselves. Former Ambassador Nikki Haley spoke Thursday. Sens. Tim Scott of South Carolina and Rick Scott of Florida, Friday morning. Each was more modest, treating the event less like a cattle call and more like a pep rally ahead of the midterms. All signs seem to point toward a coming shellacking. The president keeps slipping in the polls, and his face keeps popping up at gas stations – motorists are slapping stickers of Biden saying “I did that!” on gas pumps to vent their pain. What will motivate voters come November, then? Classic kitchen table concerns, or the complicated findings of a committee on Capitol Hill?
“I understand that the January 6 committee has removed some of their hearings because of no viewership or something of that nature,” Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn replied. “But people are concerned about what is happening to their paycheck, and their job, and their community and to their children,” she told RCP backstage before Trump arrived at the convention center.
Parents are already worried right now, the Tennessee Republican continued, about “drugs in the street and fentanyl that is being put on dollar bills and gummy bears. And those are real-life, everyday problems. And I’m so grateful people are concerned about those.”
On some of those fronts, Republicans already smell blood. They have relentlessly hammered Biden since he came into office, first on his handling of a lingering pandemic and now on his stewardship of an increasingly shaky economy. And Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel credits Trump for steeling GOP resolve.
“I think he taught us to stand up for what we believe and not back down. And I think that’s key,” she told RCP hours before the former president took the stage. “I think sometimes we were ‘Mr. Nice Guy,’” the chairwoman said of previous Republican generations. “We want to be nice, and we want to bring people into our party. But we also have to stand up for what we believe when we are getting rolled.”
It remains to be seen whether Trump’s focus on personal grievances distracts from his party’s efforts to regain congressional majorities. Republicans have generally sidestepped the January 6 Committee, hoping that if they don’t give it extra oxygen, the fire will die out. Not Trump. He all but made the issue part of his reelection platform.
“Most people should not be treated the way they’re being treated,” he said of those charged in connection to the storming of the Capitol. “If I become president someday, if I decide to do it, I will be looking at them very, very seriously for pardons.”
Again, the crowd signaled their approval just like they did any time Trump hinted at a return to the presidency. There wasn’t anything subtle on Friday. Not his appetite for retribution. Not his White House ambitions. Not even the music. Trump danced off stage, and the delighted crowd hollered, and the speakers blared “Hold On, I’m Comin’.”
After the ballroom emptied and Trump departed, three senior voters best described as sweet, southern church ladies caught up with RealClearPolitics to give a political testimony. One had attended the Jan. 6 “Stop the Steal” rally. Another had planned to but couldn’t catch a flight in time. All three gave “2,000 Mules,” the film by Dinesh D’Souza alleging a conspiracy to steal the election, rave reviews. Former Attorney General Bill Barr mocked the movie. They loved it.
The findings of the January 6 Committee, as far as they were concerned, were about as credible as the allegations that Trump colluded with Russia. Their support for the former president they had just heard from, unwavering. Was there anything, anything at all, he could do or say that might cost him their vote? “Absolutely nothing,” replied Diana Smith of Georgia. “Look at what Democrats have done. Biden and Kamala are destroying America.”

I just interviewed former President Donald Trump – again. It was our fourth interview in the past few months. I believe you’ll enjoy watching and listening. It’s not your typical formal media interview of a president. It’s more like two old friends talking, without filters, and you get to listen in.
But before I get to some key revelations about the interview, I want to share a shocking story that proves our nation is under communist attack. We are experiencing a Soviet-East German-Nazi style of censorship, banning and propaganda never seen in America’s history.
I just interviewed the 45th president of the United States. What an honor. Yet the intolerant communist tyrants and bullies of Silicon Valley won’t allow you to watch it. I’m banned for life by Twitter. I’m still on Facebook, but I’m heavily “shadow-banned” – and this Trump interview can’t be seen by anyone. How do I know? There’s not one comment under the video at Facebook. Out of hundreds of millions of people on Facebook every day, not one person chose to comment?
But here’s the most remarkable story of all. My friend financial expert, CEO of VRAinsider.com and sponsor of my national radio show Kip Herriage posted the video of my interview with the 45th president of the United States on his YouTube account. Within one hour the video was removed by YouTube; then his company was banned by YouTube. In America. Because he posted an interview with a former president of the United States.
Can you even imagine any social media site in the world removing and banning an interview with former President Barack Obama? Or former President Bill Clinton? Who removes and bans videos of interviews with a former president of the United States? For what reason?
Have you ever heard of anything like this in your life? In America, the land of free speech? Johnny can claim to be Jane, and he gets to go to the girls’ bathroom and play girls’ sports. His free speech is so important that he can sue you for using the wrong pronoun. Gay men can force a Christian baker to bake a cake with an offensive sexual symbol on it or the state will fine them. That’s how important their free speech is. Your children are being brainwashed by transgender ideology to change their sexual identity – in kindergarten. But you’re not allowed to see an interview with the 45th president of the United States. Just think about that for a moment.
Boy, are these tyrants scared to death of Trump.
What are they scared of? That you might like Trump? That he might make too much sense? You might hear too much raw truth? That what he says might spur a revolution to remove communist tyrants and traitors from office? I vote for “ALL OF THE ABOVE.”
The Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves. Hitler, Stalin and Castro are cheering. And George Orwell is saying, “I warned you.”

I asked Trump about my idea that he run for House speaker after a GOP midterm landslide victory in November. I explained why we need him to lead the impeachment of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris: because “Milquetoast McCarthy” will never get the job done. I asked him why he endorsed Rep. Kevin McCarthy for House speaker. Trump’s answer? “I never endorsed McCarthy for House speaker, no, never did it. I only endorsed him for reelection to his seat in Congress.” Wait until you hear the rest of his answer. I draw the conclusion Trump is considering running for House speaker and leaving his options open. B-I-G news!
Trump agreed with me that Biden will almost certainly not run for reelection in 2024. I believe most Americans agree Biden is finished, but to hear Trump himself say it is still shocking and refreshing. No other national politician is willing to tell the raw truth like Trump.
Trump brought up Ashli Babbitt’s terrible death at the Jan. 6 protest. He all but labeled it murder by a Capitol policeman.
I called the Jan. 6 congressional committee hearings a “communist show trial.” Trump labeled it a “kangaroo court and witch hunt.”
Trump agreed with me when I said Bill Barr was a terrible pick for attorney general and a RINO from day one. Trump blamed poor advice from someone he trusted. Trump said, “Barr was so afraid of being impeached that he didn’t want to do anything. I got impeached twice and my numbers went up.”
Trump and I discussed whether this Biden disaster is due to incompetence or the purposeful, intentional destruction of America by Biden’s radical, communist, traitor handlers.
Trump compared what’s happening in America to the destruction of Venezuela.
Finally, I told Trump that I don’t know if America will exist in 2024. Trump responded with pure honesty, “That’s actually the much bigger question … will the country (exist). There’s been more damage done in the past year and a half … than in the worst 25 years in America’s history (combined).”

The Flores victory is but the latest sign of the trend, which is a result of a combination of factors. They include a longing for the better Trump economy and a rejection of Biden-led outcomes into an inflationary malaise.

The Texas GOP platform formally embraces notions that critics of this site have deemed ‘conspiracy theories’ but which have in fact stood the test of time and have only grown in evidence supporting the concerns.
One might ask, why are billionaires and their corporate interests backing plans that are harming America? The answer is sobering. One need but consider Buffett’s mantra of the castle and the moat to understand what the motivations are of what is occurring in the U.S. today. While inflation, weakening America, the border, and other crises are harming the interests of most everyday Americans, the billionaire class has benefited ever since the COVID19 crisis.
To the point made by Real Clear Politics above, who besides President Trump – if he decides to jump back into a presidential hunt again – could possibly stop him at this time his claim for leadership of the GOP and the anti-Biden agenda? The vast majority of those who Trump has endorsed in primaries have gone on to win. Among those who didn’t, some were in ‘open primary’ states were Democrats could vote to support a nominally ‘anti-Trump’ Republican.
Trump has teased a 2024 run for months. But the Root interview may reveal a stealthy path back to power in Washington, D.C. for the deposed 45th president. As hypothetical Speaker of the House, Trump would be #3 in the constitutional line of power and succession. If Biden and Kamala Harris were ousted – a long shot, to be sure – by an impeachment carried out the by the House GOP in 2023, it is theoretically possible that the Speaker of the House could assume the role of President of the United States (POTUS). This has been seriously discussed in conservative circles. The biggest obstacle to the notion is the U.S. Senate, which even if it goes Republican in the 2022 midterms may not have enough votes to convict an impeachment if Democrats hold ranks. With occasional exceptions such as Democratic Senators Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-D) and Joe Manchin (WV-D), the Democrats have largely stayed loyal to Biden and his agenda.
All that noted, there is a mood for swift change in the U.S. away from policies that swept Representative Flores (TX-R) and Gov. Glen Younkin (VA-R) into office in blue areas. Is it possible that Republicans can tap into that mood? They have obviously done so already. Will Republicans be more likely to support a pro-manufactured housing agenda? That is less clear, but they do support smaller businesses, while Democratic policies are pushing for a green agenda that threatens to blow up a sizable chunk of manufactured housing’s entry level production.

Our son has grown quite a bit since this 12.2019 photo. All on Capitol Hill were welcoming and interested in our manufactured housing industry related concerns.
