The news-times reports from Danbury, Connecticut a dozen new modular apartments built with high-efficiency insulation featuring Energy Star utilities and fixtures is a collaborative effort of the city, the state’s General Assembly, Connecticut’s Housing Development Fund, as well as the builders and three local banks. “The utility bills in these apartments will be 35 percent lower than others,” said builder Paul Scalzo of Westchester Modular. The $1.1 million project has six two-bedroom townhouses and six one-bedroom units. Of these, three meet the Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA) specifications, and four are affordable housing. MHProNews has learned the Housing Development Fund is a revolving fund to build affordable housing in the state.
