The Energize Indiana initiative was begun by the state to help consumers reduce their utility usage, according to the Banner-Graphic of Greencastle, IN just west of Indianapolis. United Way of Putnam County is soliciting residents to take advantage of a free home energy assessment in exchange for which United Way receives $25 for each home examined. The homes must be a single detached dwelling, a multi-family unit, or a manufactured or modular home. Additionally, the owner cannot have had a utility-sponsored home energy assessment in the last three years, and the home must be at least ten years old. Homes can be owner occupied or investor owned—each assessment will generate $25 from Energize Indiana for the United Way. MHProNews has learned apartments do not qualify for the program.
