A left-leaning CNN data guru says in a report posted below that the race is close, but that the momentum appears to be in favor of the Kamala Harris-Tim Walz Democratic ticket. That was prior to an event hosted on X by its centi-billionaire owner, Elon Musk who bought Twitter and later rebranded it as X. Musk says he laughs at accusations of being a conservative, because he counts himself as a moderate Democrat who previously supported Obama-Biden (D) and Biden-Harris (D) among others. The Musk and deposed President Donald J. Trump ‘conversation’ is posted as part of another report provided to MHProNews below. One headline this morning (8.13.2024) indicates that “conversation” between Musk and Trump has achieved a billion views, and MHProNews hereby will report on the matter. According to Professor Peter St. Onge: “OVERDUE: Nearly 40% of Us Can’t Pay Our Bills” including housing and other cost-of-living expenses. That report is in Part III.
A left-leaning Democracy Now! video on Harris is also provided in Part VI of this report with analysis. Part IV and V has reporting on pushback to British and European Union officials’ efforts that have been dubbed as ‘U.S. election interference.’
For newcomers to MHProNews, this platform and our MHLivingNews sister site routinely eschew the common 300–600-word style of reporting found elsewhere in favor of more in-depth articles that pack more comprehensive information, cite sources across the left-right media divide, and then offer an MHVille focused news with analysis. Recently, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) found 53% of Americans believe that the First Amendment goes too far in protecting rights. 40% now “trust” the government to censor speech.
George Washington University law professor and constitutional expert Jonathan Turley, a self-proclaimed Democrat, calls “the most dangerous movement in our history,” Americans more and more are starting to believe in radical censorship of speech. Turley addresses the “global anti-free speech movement” in his book, “The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage.” The left-leaning Washington Post referred to Turley as a “liberal Democrat who voted for Clinton in 1992 and Ralph Nader in 1996.” “It is in my view the most dangerous movement in our history due to an unprecedented alliance of government, corporate, academic, and media forces.
Heavy stated:
Turley said at the time, “I don’t know where the idea came from that I am some kind of a right-wing extremist. I have always been a liberal Democrat and I voted for Bill Clinton.”That fear was amplified this week with polling showing that years of attacking free speech as harmful has begun to change the views of citizens,” Turley recently said.
He explained Antifa has been one of the “most dangerous” censorship groups.
“Antifa continues to attack those with opposing views and anti-free speech allies continue to ‘deplatform’ speakers on campuses and public forums. ‘Your speech is violence’ is now a common mantra heard around the country. Faculty continue to lead students in attacking pro-life and other demonstrators.” Turley cited an Antifa activist whose ideology is: “You have the right to speak but you also have the right to be shut up.”
MHProNews editorial notes. For roughly a dozen years, MHProNews has been led by political independents. As a further disclosure, there were times when this writer was more Democratic leaning on a given topic, more Republican leaning on others, or more minor party and political independent in orientation before that last 12 years. It should also be noted that we monitor messaging from Democrats, Republicans and the Democrat-turned independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Nicole Shanahan ticket. The left-leaning New York Times said:
Nicole Shanahan, a lawyer who was married to Sergey Brin, a Google founder…”
Shanahan is wealthy. Per left-leaning Wikipedia: “Shanahan married Google co-founder Sergey Brin in 2018; they separated in 2021 and divorced in 2023. She reportedly has a net worth over $1 billion, primarily as a result of her marriage to Brin.”
So, the top three candidate tickets for 2024, per the most recent polling, all have billionaire backing and/or have a billionaire on their ticket. Following the money is useful in understanding the respective agendas.
MHProNews monitors communications from all three of those campaigns, and at times, each of them has arguably used manipulative, deceptive, or misleading language. They may each say something that is true, and then mix it in with something that is misleading or manipulative. Paltering and other forms of manipulation are common realities. Details matter. There are no perfect candidates.
Thus, their respective track records and backers’ agendas are important.
With that backdrop, let’s dive into the latest political and economic developments as these will likely be factors in the outcome of the 2024 election and thus the regulatory and legal landscape that all Americans will operate in starting Inauguration Day 2025, scheduled for January 20, 2025.
Part I: CNN Video provided by the WND News Center to MHProNews is the following.
WATCH: ‘Clear momentum’: Network data guru says Kamala’s polling bump causing Trump to go ‘bananas’
‘Harris is doing two things here. No. 1, she’s getting more of those untraditional voters and No. 2, she’s coalescing that Democratic base’
CNN data reporter Harry Enten claimed Monday that “clear momentum” for Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential race due to “coalescing the base” of the Democratic Party, was causing former President Donald Trump to go “bananas.”
Harris received the endorsement of President Joe Biden after he ended his reelection bid July 21, rapidly securing the Democratic nomination shortly afterwards. Enten said that support from Democrats and “untraditional voters” were fueling the vice president’s surge in polls of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin voters released by The New York Times Saturday.
“What am I seeing? These were these New York Times/Siena College polls that came out over the weekend and look, this is Democrat versus Trump margin. This is May, Biden versus Trump. You see plenty of red on this side of your screen, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, of course, that quote, unquote, blue wall. This was back in May. You saw Trump up by three, Trump up by one in Wisconsin, Biden up by a single point in Michigan,” Enten told “CNN News Central” host Kate Bolduan. “The trend line here is what’s so important. So, let’s jump ahead from May to August. We go from some red on this side of the screen, look at all this blue on this side of the screen, Pennsylvania, Harris by four; Wisconsin, Harris by four; Michigan, Harris by four. You’re seeing those comments on Trump on social media kind of going bananas and you’re wondering why it’s because he’s looking at polling data like this, which shows clear momentum from Donald Trump to Kamala Harris as Joe Biden’s got out of the race.”
WATCH:
Harris leads former President Donald Trump by 0.5% in a national head-to-head matchup, according to the Real Clear Polling average of polls from July 22 to Aug. 7, with the vice president increasing her lead to 0.8% when Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein and independent presidential candidates Cornel West and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are included in surveys. By comparison, Trump held a 3.1% lead over Biden in a national head-to-head matchup before the president ended his reelection bid, according to the RealClearPolling average of polls, with the lead expanding to 4.2% when Stein, Kennedy and West were included in surveys.
“I’ll note still, no clear leader up here, but you would much rather be Kamala Harris up by four within the margin of error than Joe Biden down by three in Pennsylvania, down one in Wisconsin and only up by one in Michigan, within the margin-of-error,” Enten continued. “These are three-to-five-point movements towards the Democratic ticket. Clear momentum and it’s clearly angering Donald Trump.”
Enten cited two figures from the New York Times poll, which surveyed 1,973 voters across the three states from Aug. 5 to 9, that were behind the surge for Harris.
“It’s not that she’s getting Donald Trump voters from 2020. What is she doing? Number one, she’s coalescing the Democratic base,” Enten said. “So look… Biden this spring, he was getting only 90% of the voters who voted for him back in 2020. Look at it now, what do we see? We see Kamala Harris getting 93% of those voters. So we see that momentum.”
“The other thing that we see, is those untraditional voters, those voters versus all this talk that Donald Trump was going to get these voters off the sidelines and getting a vote for who didn’t vote in 2020. Back in the spring, look at that, Joe Biden was only getting 28% of the 2020 non-voters, look over, Kamala Harris is now getting 43% of those voters, a 15 point jump,” Enten continued. “So Kamala Harris is doing two things here. Number one, she’s getting more of those untraditional voters and number two, she’s coalescing that Democratic base.” ##

a)
Brit gets scorched for threatening to enforce his speech bans WORLDWIDE!
‘You British f***s lost the war!! We AmeriCANS speak freely!! We are sovereign!! We are FREE’
By Bob Unruh|
A British government official has threatened to arrest anyone, anywhere in the world, if they violate his interpretation of what speech is allowed in the public – or not.
And he’s getting a vicious scolding from Americans who have reminded him that there was a revolution, and he’s not in charge.
But a constitutional expert, Jonathan Turley, a professor at George Washington University and a popular commentator on constitutional issues who has testified before Congress on its impact, is warning that a Democrat administration in the United States actually could collude with such extremists.
The dispute is over the recent comment from a police commissioner in the United Kingdom, Mark Rowley, who issued the threat.
“We will throw the full force of the law at people. And whether you’re in this country committing crimes on the streets or committing crimes from further afield, we will come after you.”
He envisions even extraditing people from other nations to face his courtroom antics on issues such as what has happened in the U.K.
Turley explained, “The decline of free speech in the United Kingdom has long been a concern for free speech advocates. A man was convicted for sending a tweet while drunk referring to dead soldiers. Another was arrested for an anti-police t-shirt. Another was arrested for calling the Irish boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend a ‘leprechaun.’ Yet another was arrested for singing ‘Kung Fu Fighting.’ A teenager was arrested for protesting outside of a Scientology center with a sign calling the religion a ‘cult.'”
Turley reported the issue surfaced because, “London has been hit with days of violent protests over immigration policies, including attacks and arson directed at immigration centers. This violence has been fueled by false reports spread online about the person responsible for an attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance event that left three girls dead and others wounded. Despite false claims about his being an asylum seeker, the culprit was an 18-year-old British citizen born to Rwandan parents.”
Now police there are “moving to arrest those who are repeating false claims or engaging in inflammatory speech,” he reported.
Rowley expanded his comment: “Being a keyboard warrior does not make you safe from the law. You can be guilty of offenses of incitement, of stirring up racial hatred, there are numerous terrorist offenses regarding the publishing of material. All of those offenses are in play if people are provoking hatred and violence on the streets, and we will come after those individuals just as we will physically confront on the streets the thugs and the yobs who are taking — who are causing the problems for communities.”
Turley noted, “The message is chilling because free speech has been in a free fall in the United Kingdom as well as other Western countries.”
He noted the U.K. has adopted many laws criminalizing speech, using vague terms that allow for police to arrest anyone they want. All the behavior has to be is considered by police to be “threatening, abusive, or insulting.”
He pointed out, “Ordinarily, one would expect the U.S. government to push back on the suggestion that these laws could be used to arrest and extradite its citizens for the use of free speech. However, the Biden-Harris administration has been a proponent of censorship and blacklisting for years. At the same time, leading Democrats have called for European-type laws to be adopted or enforced against U.S. citizens for their views on social media.”
He noted that in the past, “Democratic leaders like Hillary Clinton called on foreign countries to use or pass censorship laws to prevent Elon Musk from restoring free speech protections on Twitter. The effort of these politicians would allow free speech to be reduced to the lowest common denominator as countries export their anti-free speech laws. When Clinton called upon Europeans to censor Americans, this is precisely what such actions would look like. These foreign countries could force Americans to curtail their speech under the threat of ruinous financial penalties or even arrest.”
A report at BizPacReview pointed out the insults actually being hurled at Rowley over his agenda.
Unleashed were many comments, many of them using harsh language, to scold Rowley.
“He’s not going to do a f****** thing about other people expressing themselves freely in other countries, especially Americans,” said one, describing Rowley and his agenda as “the rest of the racists.”
Another pointed out that “you British f***s lost the war!! We AmeriCANS speak freely!! We are sovereign!! We are FREE!!”
Yet another scolded, “Thanks to our revolution, we have free speech, and remember we started that revolution over a tax on tea…”
Another offered a lesson in American government, specifically the 2nd Amendment, if Rowley would “try to do something to us…” ##
b) Still Election Interference Related, from the Contrarian Financial-News Focused ZeroHedge. Note the use of the F-word below are quotes from that piece and Musk.
But, just hours before the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, and former president Donald Trump are set to ‘break the internet’ with a live-stream on X Spaces, EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton has thrown a temper tantrum, seemingly mad at Musk’s unwillingness to bend the knee at his censorious demands by daring to allow ‘orange-man-bad-literally-hitler’ speak on the only uncensored platform that remains.
Specifically, Breton wrote “I am compelled to remind you of the due diligence obligations set out in the Digital Services Act (DSA),” adding that:
“This notably means ensuring… that all proportionate and effective mitigation measures are put in place regarding the amplification of harmful content in connection with relevant events, including live streaming, which, if unaddressed, might increase the risk profile of X and generate detrimental effects on civic discourse and public security.”
The DSA is a NATO censorship law that is designed to stop the spread of populist parties in the West, according to cyber security expert Mike Benz.
Why is the EU threatening Elon Musk and X to censor tonight’s live event with Trump?
Why does the EU feel comfortable demanding censorship in a US election to comply with the Digital Services Act (DSA)?
What even is the DSA?
Watch Mike Benz explain ⬇️pic.twitter.com/RFWn1wNFIS
— Ashley St. Clair (@stclairashley) August 12, 2024
Breton went on to threaten to use the full “toolbox” of measures to protect EU citizens from “serious harm.”
“My services and I will be extremely vigilant to any evidence that points to breaches of the DSA and will not hesitate to use the full use of our toolbox, including by adopting interim measures, if it be warranted to protect EU citizens from serious harm,” he said.
“With great audience comes greater responsibility,” Breton wrote on X, Monday.
“As there is a risk of amplification of potentially harmful content in [the EU] in connection with events with major audience around the world, I sent this letter to Elon Musk,” Breton added.
In response to Breton’s letter, Musk simply posted “Bonjour!”
In a subsequent post, he added:
“To be honest, I really wanted to respond with this Tropic Thunder meme, but I would NEVER do something so rude & irresponsible!”
And so with that, it seems Musk is refusing to follow Breton’s orders and daring to amplify the voice of one of the two candidates for the US presidential election in November. Notably, the letters US do not equal EU…
“As the relevant content is accessible to EU users and being amplified also in our jurisdiction, we cannot exclude potential spillovers in the EU,” Breton wrote.
“Therefore, we are monitoring the potential risks in the EU associated with the dissemination of content that may incite violence, hate and racism in conjunction with major political – or societal – events around the world, including debates and interviews in the context of elections.”
The EU accused X in July of violating the DSA, stating that Musk’s verification policy on the platform can be used to deceive other users, CBS News reported. Musk removed verification badges, otherwise known as the blue check, from all verified accounts of people deemed noteworthy and currently charges $8 for anyone to receive a blue check.
“This is an unprecedented attempt to stretch a law intended to apply in Europe to political activities in the U.S.,” X CEO Linda Yaccarino said in response to the letter on the platform.
“It also patronizes European citizens, suggesting they are incapable of listening to a conversation and drawing their own conclusions.”
Breton thus created a round of media coverage suggesting that the prestigious European Union has identified Trump as a purveyor of hate speech and disinformation. And yet the interview has not yet occurred, Breton presents no evidence that Trump will be a source of disinformation or hate speech, and there is no evidence of any link whatsoever between Trump and the recent riots in Britain.
As such, Public’s Michael Shellenberger point out Breton’s letter could constitute a form of foreign interference in the upcoming US presidential elections.
Breton is, without justification, using the recent riots in Britain to demand censorship in the U.S.
In a normal time, the White House should issue a formal protest to the EU over Breton’s threats, and the Department of Justice should open an investigation. However, given that the Biden Administration is unlikely to do that, Congress should consider its own investigation.
Oh, and there’s this fucking douchenozzle from WaPo…
This so-called reporter from the Washington Post just had the audacity to ask Karine Jean-Pierre if the Biden regime could INTERFERE and block Trump’s interview with Elon Musk on .
Are you freaking kidding me?! pic.twitter.com/BF0E7IsX15
— Ian Miles Cheong (@stillgray) August 12, 2024
As LibertyNation’s Sarah Cowgill concludes, a potential 193 million folks – a mix of elite media and curiosity seekers – could tune in to the X platform to watch the titans make a plan for America, talk smack about Harris and Walz, or compare golf scores – or whatever it is they end up talking about. It could be eye-opening and meaningful, or maybe this interview will be a nothing burger. Either way, the billionaires playing America-Monopoly with real money will at least be entertaining. …”

Analysis
OVERDUE: Nearly 40% of Us Can’t Pay Our Bills
Daily Signal Editor’s note: This is a lightly edited transcript of the accompanying video from professor Peter St. Onge. Peter St. Onge is a visiting fellow at The Heritage Foundation.
A new poll finds that nearly 40% of Americans worry about paying the bills “most or all of the time”—which is even higher than during the 2008 financial crisis.
The poll—from CNN, of all places—found that 39% of Americans worry about paying the bills most or all of the time.
It’s up by one-third since the worst days of Bidenflation, and higher than the 37% during the 2008 crisis, when joblessness was running nearly 10%.
The reason, of course, is inflation.
Even CNN admits “consumers are still trying to catch up to the price spikes of the last few years.”
Still trying to catch up is an understatement. The gap between nominal wages and inflation-adjusted wages since 2021 is more than 20%. So, it looks like you’re making a lot more, but even accounting for official inflation, workers have lost thousands in income.
Of course, if official inflation is a lie, which seems likely, going by real-world prices from housing to restaurants and groceries, then workers have lost a lot more.
To illustrate, official inflation since COVID-19 is 21%, but fast-food menu prices—a standard finance proxy for true inflation—are up more than twice that, while housing costs have doubled since COVID-19, between rising house prices and rising mortgage rates.
If those real-world numbers are closer to true inflation, then workers have lost potentially thousands per month.
How are we above 2008 levels of distress when unemployment is under 5%? Easy: The inflation itself is pushing people to take on part-time jobs, and government statistics count part-time jobs the same as full-time jobs.
So, if you get laid off and take on a couple gigs—bag groceries Monday and Tuesday, sweep driveways Wednesday and Thursday, drive for Uber on the weekends—you are a one-man job miracle.
Indeed, CNN’s poll found that 35% of Americans—more than 1 in 3—say they have to take on part-time work to make ends meet.
That rises to 44% of blacks, 52% of Latinos, and nearly half of workers under age 45.
That explains why jobs are rising on paper, yet the actual number of employed Americans is plunging—down 600,000 in the past eight months alone.
It also explains why Americans are spending like double-digit unemployment is already here. The poll found more than two-thirds of Americans are cutting back on groceries, and nearly half are cutting back on driving to save gas. And 4 in 10 Americans are now using credit cards to pay for their necessities, like groceries and gas.
As always, this is hitting the youngest hardest, with nearly 80% of millennials and Gen Z unable to afford everyday expenses.
So, what’s next? I mentioned last week that most Americans think a recession has already begun, even as official numbers on prices and jobs gaslight their way to November.
A lot is riding on the next election. If the media manage to haul Kamala Harris over the finish line, we get Bidenomics double-time, all the way down. If, on the other hand, Donald Trump pulls through, going by 2016, we could get out of recession a lot faster, with a lot less pain.
We publish a variety of perspectives. Nothing written here is to be construed as representing the views of The Daily Signal.##

‘We’re in massive trouble with Kamala’: Elon Musk and Trump sound alarm on America’s existence
‘We’re at a fork in the road in the destiny of civilization and I think we need to take the right path, and I think you’re the right path’
By Joe Kovacs|
In a lengthy conversation with two of the most influential people in the world Monday night, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk sounded the alarm to former President Donald Trump about a potential Kamala Harris victory in the 2024 presidential race, saying, “I think we’re in massive trouble with a Kamala administration.”
“It’s essential that you win for the good of this country and that’s understating my position,” Musk told Trump during the event on X, which is owned by Musk.
The pair discussed some of the hottest topics plaguing the nation, including the border disaster, the financial pain caused by inflation and an anemic economy, and what would happen to America should Democrats win the White House.
“You are the path to prosperity, and Kamala is the opposite,” Musk told Trump. “I’m just trying to tell people my honest opinion.”
“My track record has been moderate and if not moderate, slightly left” he said, noting it was “absurd” to think he was a right-wing activist.
“I call myself a moderate Democrat,” the Tesla chief explained, “But now I feel like we’re at a critical juncture for the country. … We’re gonna see an even further left administration with Kamala.
“Her dad is a Marxist economist you can Google it … that’s how she was brought up.”
“America is in a fork in the road … We’re at a fork in the road in the destiny of civilization and I think we need to take the right path, and I think you’re the right path. … We’re in deep trouble if it goes the other way.”
Musk summarized what Americans are longing for, saying, “We want safe and clean cities we want secure borders, we want sensible government spending … stop the lawfare and, how are those even right-wing positions? Those are just common sense.”
Trump hammered on Kamala Harris and her political track record “destroying” California.
“It’s almost not livable there,” the former president noted. “She was involved in the destruction of San Francisco and California and she’ll be involved in the destruction of America if elected.”
“We have a defective government, these are defective people, and they shouldn’t be running it.”
“He’s incompetent and she’s incompetent,” Trump said of Joe Biden and Harris. “I think she’s more incompetent than he is, and that’s saying something because he’s not too good.”
Run for the border
Both Musk and Trump spent a large portion of the two-hour event focusing on the problems the Biden-Harris administration has caused at the border.
“Crime all over the world is down, and wait till you see the numbers we have,” Trump said, noting leaders across the globe are sending their worst citizens to America.
“This is migrant crime,” and the former commander in chief said he was considering changing his catchphrase of “Biden Migrant Crime” to “Kamala Migrant Crime.”
“These are rough people. These are criminals that make our criminals look like nice people.”
Trump said Kamala is “such a liar because she was called the border czar and she never even went there.”
“People can’t allow them to get away with their disinformation campaign … She was totally in charge. [Biden] didn’t even know what was going on. He wouldn’t know the difference.”
Musk explained that he himself had visited the U.S. southern border and said: “It looks like a ‘World War Z’ zombie apocalypse at times.”
“I saw for myself in Texas. It’s real. I’m seeing this in real time,” he said, wondering to himself, “Is this made up or real?”
“The people that I saw did not look friendly.”
“This is a fundamentally existential issue for the United States,” Musk continued. “I’m not sure we have a country at that point.”
As far as where the migrants are coming from, Musk said: “It’s earth, the rest of earth. It would only take a few percent of the rest of earth to overwhelm the U.S. … It’s just not possible for there United States to absorb everyone from earth.”
Trump promised: “We’re gonna have the largest deportation in history, otherwise we’re not gonna have a country.”
The REAL warming problem
“The biggest threat is not global warming,” said Trump. “The biggest threat is nuclear warming.”
“This is no longer army tanks shooting at each other. It’s a level of destruction and power that nobody’s ever seen before.”
“We have to not allow anything to happen with stupid people like Biden. … Biden had a low I.Q. 30 years ago, but he might not even have an I.Q. at all right now. there’s nothing on the board that goes that low.”
“We have an administration that made [the possibility of nuclear war] more prevalent. The words that he was using, the stupid threats coming from a stupid face.”
Trump said he had a “good relationship” with Kim Jong Un of North Korea, who informed Trump the communist dictator had “a red button on his desk” to launch nuclear missiles.
Trump quipped: “I said I have a red button on my desk too, and my red button works!”
“If you have a smart president, we are not in danger from those countries,” he added.
The American exodus
Musk discussed skyrocketing prices for goods and services that is causing severe financial pain for millions of Americans, indicating, “Inflation is just a form of taxation.”
“Inflation comes from government overspending, because the government checks never bounce. … We need to reduce our government spending … and we need to live within our means.”
He said if states “risk bankruptcy and they’re not getting bailed out by the federal government, that’s the only thing that will make them change.”
“So many of these governors have so many people leaving their states, they should get U-Haul Salesman of the Year.”
Trump agreed, saying, “It’s a disaster with inflation.”
“Today, [Americans] are using all their money and borrowing money just to live. … “This stupid administration allowed this to happen. You think Biden could do this interview? You think Kamala could to his interview?
“No they could not,” Musk replied.
Back to Butler
Trump announced he would be going back to Butler, the Pennsylvania town where he was nearly assassinated July 13, with his next visit expected in October.
“I think I’ll probably start by saying, ‘As I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted,” Trump clowned.
Regarding the chart on illegal immigration he was looking at when he was struck in the ear by a bullet, Trump said half-jokingly: “Illegal immigration saved my life.”
“It’s very much, I say an action of God,” Trump said of his head turning at the precise moment to avoid being killed. “It’s a miracle and I’m honored by it.”
“It was a miracle, if I hadn’t turned my head, I wouldn’t be talking to you right now,” Trump told Musk, who replied: “From a different realm,” perhaps.
“Your actions in the heat of fire,” Musk continued, “you can’t fake bravery under such circumstances. A lot of people admire your courage under fire there.”
Trump said: “I’m gonna sleep with that chart always, that chart was very important for several reasons.”
The conversation was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, but was delayed for at least 45 minutes, with Musk saying a large Distributed Denial of Service attack on his platform prevented users from accessing his talk with Trump on time.
(LISTEN TO THE CONVERSATION: It commences at 52:27 into the livestream because of the delay):
b) From the Daily Signal to MHProNews about Must-Trump Conversation.
News
7 Takeaways From Trump’s ‘Conversation’ With Elon Musk
- ‘Made Me More of a Believer’
Musk began the conversation by asking Trump about the attempted assassination at a July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
A bullet grazed his right ear, the former president recalled, as he turned slightly to talk about an oversize chart showing illegal immigration numbers during the Trump-Pence administration years with the much higher numbers of the Biden-Harris administration.
“It was a bigger miracle that I was looking directly at the shooter, so [the bullet] hit me at an angle that was far less destructive than any other miracle,” Trump told Musk in the audio interview on X.
One rallygoer was killed and two others wounded by the shooter, and Trump expressed sorrow that they were hit by bullets meant for him.
“For those people that don’t believe in God, I think we’ve all got to start thinking about that,” Trump said. “I’m a believer, but it’s made me more of a believer, I think. A lot of great people have said that to me, actually. It was amazing that I happened to be turned at that perfect angle.”
Musk, who endorsed Trump after the attempt to kill him, called him “courageous” Monday night for standing up and pumping his fist after being hit.
- ‘Illegal Immigration Saved My Life’
The two talked about the shooting at some length, dwelling on the large chart depicting unlawful border crossings that led Trump to tilt his head in a certain direction.
“Illegal immigration saved my life,” Trump said at one point, prompting laughter from Musk.
Trump regularly campaigns on restoring border security and keeping criminal gangs and drug traffickers from entering the country. The former president also has promised the “largest deportation effort” in history to send home illegal aliens admitted by the Biden-Harris administration.
Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., had his staff create the original chart for use during a hearing.
“I’ll be sleeping with that chart. That chart was very important for a lot of reasons,” Trump said.
He mentioned several times that Harris had the unofficial title of “border czar” after Biden assigned her early in 2021 to determine the root causes of illegal immigration, a problem that then worsened.
“I saw an ad from Kamala talking about providing border security,” Trump said. “Where has she been for three and a half years?”
“We’re already overwhelmed, Elon. We’re overwhelmed,” the former president said at another point, speaking of illegal aliens admitted by the Biden-Harris administration.
- ‘Dragged Him Behind the Barn’
Later, Musk used the word “shot” in a figurative way in describing how Democrats forced Biden out of the 2024 race, using a metaphor for putting an injured farm animal out of its misery.
“This was a coup of the president of the United States,” Trump said of Biden, then referred to other top Democrats. “He didn’t want to leave and they said, ‘We can do this the nice way or do this hard way.’”
Musk concurred, saying metaphorically that Biden was shot.
“They just took him out back behind the shed and basically shot him,” Musk said.
Trump began to say, “What they did to this guy … ,” before clarifying that he didn’t want to defend Biden too much.
“I’m not a fan of his, and he was a horrible president, the worst president in history,” Trump said, sounding a familiar theme.
- ‘Defective Government’
Trump ridiculed the Biden-Harris administration as “defective.”
“We have a defective government. These are defective people,” the 45th president said.
Later, Trump said that in some ways, the U.S. government has become worse than its enemies.
“We have some really bad people in our government,” Trump said. “I’d say they’re more dangerous than Russia or China. We need a smart president, a president that gets it. We are not in danger from those countries because they need us and they need our help.”
Musk did most of the asking of questions during the exchange. However, at one point Trump asked Musk: “You think Biden could do this interview? You think that Kamala could do this interview?”
Musk laughed and responded, “No. They could not.”
Trump replied, “It’s pretty sad.”
“Yes. Absolutely,” Musk agreed.
- ‘Iron Dome’ for America
Trump said Biden’s comments have made the world less safe, including the president’s talk of Ukraine joining the NATO alliance even as Russia dug in with its invasion of the former Soviet republic.
“Biden had a low IQ 30 years ago. He’s very low IQ now,” Trump said.
“It was so bad the words he was using,” Trump said of Biden. “The stupid threats coming from his stupid face. It could lead to World War III.”
Musk asserted: “People underrate the risk of World War III,” and added, “It’s game over for humanity.”
Trump argued that the biggest threat facing humanity isn’t climate change or global warming, but “nuclear warming.”
Trump brought up an “Iron Dome” for America, using the name of the antimissile system Israel developed as a shield to foil the rocket attacks of its enemies.
“Why shouldn’t we have an Iron Dome?” Trump said. “Israel has an Iron Dome.”
- President’s ‘Vegetable Stage’
“Now Biden is close to vegetable stage, in my opinion,” Trump said bluntly at one point, perhaps alluding to those who argue that Harris should have succeeded Biden as president by now, rather than just replace him on the ballot.
“I looked at him on the beach [in photos over the weekend] and I thought why would anyone allow him—the guy could barely walk. Does he have a political adviser that thinks this looks good?” Trump said.
“He can’t lift the chair,” Trump added. “The chair weighs about three ounces! It’s meant for children and old people.”
Musk replied, “It’s clearly like we don’t have a president right now.”
Trump added of Harris and her record as vice president, senator, and California attorney general: “And she’s worse than him.”

Part V – Additional Information with More MHProNews Analysis and Commentary
1) MHProNews and our MHLivingNews sister-site are on record as multi-year Musk skeptics and critics. An example of that is linked below.
2) The remarks and image collage that follow are from the right-leaning ZeroHedge financial-news site. The Biden-Harris “Build Back Better” image is accurate and there are scores of those to be found online with a simple image search. See the below the following.
The photo collage below is from screen captures from left-leaning Google images 8.13.2024.
2) In 2020 Musk had not yet purchased Twitter which he later rebranded as X. In the run-up to the election, then Jack Dorsey led Twitter, Mark Zuckerberg led Facebook/Meta, and YouTube (a sister brand to Google and owned by Alphabet) all banned Trump. It was blatant election interference, as each of those operations’ leaders were pro-Democratic and supported Biden-Harris.
3) Also in 2020, some 51 active and former heads of American spy- and law enforcement agencies signed a letter which inaccurately declared that the Hunter Biden laptop story that was also throttled by the main social media platforms was said to have the hallmarks of a Russian disinformation campaign. That turned out not to be true, but the damage around election time was already done. But once again, that in hindsight was election interference by active and former leaders in U.S. ‘intelligence services’ that obviously benefited Joe Biden and Kamala Harris while it hurt Trump.
4) There are numbers of stances that Trump has taken that are not in alignment with the specific views of MHProNews/MHLivingNews parent company leadership. As was noted in the preface, there are no perfect candidates. For that matter, there are no perfect voters.
5) That said, while lifelong Democrat turned independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has some interesting and arguably useful views on the nexus of power between big business and government in the U.S., he holds too many views that are even further from those held by MHProNews/MHLivingNews parent company leadership. The same is true of the other minor party and independent candidates.
Note that Kennedy has made similar statements as former Democratic presidential hopeful Seth Moulton, who has admitted that the Democrats have become the party of the wealthy, while clinging to the image of ‘representing’ the interests of the poor, working class, and marginalized.
While some of the financial elites, including Musk, seem to be backing Trump at this time, there are reasons to believe that “Wall Street,” Hollywood, much of the big media and big corporate interests still back the Democrats, in this case, Harris-Walz. Biden was jettisoned by Democrats, as he himself all but said in an interview, because of the perception that he couldn’t beat Trump. Without running for president herself in 2023-2024 before Biden bowed out, Harris was anointed by party leaders in what many say is an undemocratic process. Kennedy, a lifelong Democrat, also alleged that the primary system was rigged to favor Biden who recently bowed out under pressure. Trump and others have called this a political coup.
But this is hardly the first time this has happened. There are those who assert that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had the 2016 Democratic nomination rigged against Bernie Sanders, a charge that former DNC party Chair Donna Brazile said was true.
Then in 2020, there were allegations that the frontrunner Sanders was once again bumped by Democratic Party insiders in favor of Biden, even though Sanders was ahead in the early delegates count before South Carolina and Super Tuesday.
Now, in 2024, Biden was the apparent winner of the Democratic Party’s nomination process. Kennedy and others were shut down, they assert. Then, when the Trump-Biden debate occurred, ”
“the Party” bosses began the process of pushing Biden out.
The behavior of the Democratic leaders have been called ‘fascist,’ which is odd, because that is what Democrats claim that Trump-Vance ticket represents. But fascism is “corporatism,” and the corporate interests have been running the Democratic party for decades, per sources that include Democratic-leaning media. But what Trump did in 2016 was beat the Bush-wing of the Republican party, meaning, Trump beat the big corporate interests.
6) For our leadership, this upcoming 2024 election comes down to a binary choice between Harris-Walz and Trump-Vance. It may be understandable why some Democrats would vote Kennedy Shanahan, who hold typical Democratic positions, save perhaps that they are trying to expose the corporate takeover of the Democratic Party.
7) Democrats have had 3.5 years in control of the federal government. Kamala Harris cast some key votes in the Senate to get the Biden agenda adopted. While some may try to obscure those facts, MHProNews will report the facts as they are known.
8) The late comic George Carlin was no conservative. He mocked several conservative beliefs, including belief in God, pro-life beliefs, and the like. That said, Carlin’s classic video posted in the article below shows his belief that both major parties were in the pockets of big business interests. As was noted above, there is evidence for that, until Trump upended the Bush-wing of the Republican Party.
Leftist professor Noam Chomsky described the process for “Manufacturing Consent” decades ago in a way that largely fits what Carlin said too. MHProNews/MHLivingNews has fact-checked the above and below as shown.
Carlin pointed out in that video that is posted in the article above that the corporate interests dominate media. More details on that are found in the report about “Shadows of Liberty” in more specific details linked above.
But in the case of Harris, Matt Stoller previously said this on July 25, 2024 in an email to MHProNews and others.
Billionaire Orders Kamala Harris to Fire Lina Khan
LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman gave $10 million to Harris’ campaign and demanded an end to Biden’s tariff and antitrust policies.
9) Manufactured housing and affordable housing have demonstrably suffered under Democratic leadership. Homelessness has risen despite more federal spending on homelessness. The programs of the left demonstrably don’t work. That may explain why Musk, a self-proclaimed moderate Democrat, is backing Trump. Musk sees Trump as the best available option for a brighter American future. See those reports linked above and below to learn more.
From Gov. Tim Walz’s state of MN.
10) As promised from the headline, per left-leaning Democracy Now! about then-Senator Harris when she previously ran for president as a Democrat.
So, it wasn’t just now former Democrat Rep Tulsi Gabbard (HI-D) that outed Harris as a phony. Democracy Now previously did too.
11) From ZeroHedge
As a potential crib sheet for the discussion, a number of conservative X users posted the following list:

Combined views of the conversation with @realDonaldTrump and subsequent discussion by other accounts now ~1 billion https://t.co/s8x8QmdmnY
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 13, 2024
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 12, 2024
Per ZeroHedge: “The Harris campaign got their best 20 something year old PR intern to type up an anxiety laced post that didn’t address any of the content of the conversation between Musk and Trump, and instead focused on the technical issues as some kind of criticism.”
20 something Kamala PR person can’t handle that it wasn’t some sort of staged fawning phone call from a reality show, that there was actual long form substance and real conversation involved, and tech issues because it wasn’t completely fake and staged and re-done until ‘right’ https://t.co/nk6CkZQMme

12) Having delivered on the headline topics, and as was noted in the preface above, all three of the top candidates/tickets in the U.S. 2024 election cycle have billionaires/corporate interests that are backing their pick. So the Harris-Walz campaign statement above is one more example of paltering, a half-truth. There may well be more billionaires and big corporate interests backing Harris-Walz than are backing Trump-Vance. That said, note the report linked below.
