As follow-up to a story MHProNews last published Dec. 7, 2012, centredaily reports from College Township, Penn., since residents at the Hilltop Mobile Home Park received notices the community will close this Feb., city officials are considering whether to adopt an ordinance requiring developers to include a percentage of affordable housing units in new projects. Currently, the township has a voluntary ordinance with incentives for builders to include affordable dwellings, but no developer has used that yet. Commissioner George Khoury spoke with developers and says, “Honestly, I would characterize that discussion as the developers are not going to voluntarily get into workforce housing until somebody comes in with some extra money to make up for what they perceive as the loss of profit.”
