Norwich University in Northfield, Ver. is one of 20 collegiate teams chosen by the U. S. Dept. of Energy to build a cost effective, energy efficient, attractive modular home for entry in the 2013 Solar Decathlon and Expo competition that will take place in Irvine, Calif. Oct. 3-13. Designed as affordable housing on an annual income of $36,000, the solar-powered DeltaT-90 (DT90) is designed to maintain an inside temperature of 70 degrees throughout the winter. The 1,000 square foot modular home will be on display through July 26 on campus, at which time it will be disassembled, packed up and shipped across the country to be reassembled by faculty and staff during September, as vtdigger.org informs MHProNews.
