The Pickens (South Carolina) City Council approved on first reading an ordinance that would allow additional manufactured homes into residential areas where they previously could not be sited. The new measure would also prevent additional manufactured housing communities from being built. Recommended by the city’s planning commission, the ordinance will give existing communities a new zoning, and grandfather in those communities as well as current manufactured homes, according to powdersvillepost. A public hearing will be held September 9 at the next council meeting to consider zoning changes for individual sites. MHProNews has learned Allen Hutto of the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina (MHISC) helped Pickens put the proposal together.
