An affiliate of Universal Forest Products, Inc. has developed the Intact Structural Frame building system that connects the roof to the foundation, providing an exoskeleton that will resist seismic, snow and stormy conditions. Most buildings connect the walls the to the foundation for support, but the owner of the 7,000 square foot building did not want load-bearing walls nor posts in the middle of the structure. A combination of engineered wood and an innovative full-height anchoring system, the building saved 15-40 percent over traditional steel and block construction, and cut production time by three weeks, as dailyfinance.com reports. MHProNews knows Universal provides wood and wood products to the manufactured housing industry.
