Fire Safety Emphasized during Fire Prevention Week

As we enter national Fire Prevention Week through Oct. 12, 2013, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) says the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) “Final Rule” for smoke alarms in new manufactured homes (MH) requires factory-installed hardwired or ten-year battery source, interconnected smoke alarms with battery back-up. As penbaypilot.com tells MHProNews, the alarms are also required to be in or near sleeping rooms as well as at the top and bottom of stairways. Rankin’s Hardware and Building Supplies in Camden, Maine will make a donation to the Knox County Fire Training Academy for each fire safety item sold this week.
