A Cody, Wyoming couple was denied a variance to site a modular home on their land by the Park County Commissioners. The current ordinance prohibits mobile homes in the North Fork Planning Area where their land sits. MHProNews has learned “mobile home” includes manufactured and modular homes in their definition. Landowner Brian McDaniel says he can save $150,000 to $200,000 by having a modular house sited over a house built on site, and that the ordinance is outdated. Several neighbors signed a petition against the home, even though McDaniel went door-to-door showing pictures of the finished project. The county assessor said the home would be valued much like a stick-built home, but Commissioner Leon Grosskopf says it would be better to change the ordinance than grant a variance because that would give legal protection to the county and to the landowner.
