The massive fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas April 17, 2013 destroyed several school buildings which have been replaced with 28 instructional and support modular structures, including 17 units manufactured by Ramtech Building Systems. The West Independent School District (ISD) is also receiving modular classrooms from other school districts, which combined with the new units will accommodate 700 students, according to modularhomecoach.com. The nearly 70,000 square foot project includes 10-classroom buildings, four computer and science labs, two locker room buildings, an administrative office, cafeteria, band hall, and a life skills building for the middle and high schools. Each module was built using 26 gauge R-panel metal outside, and vinyl products on the inside walls and floor.
