Another on-site modular home builder has come to the attention of MHProNews.com, this time from Great Britain. Facit Homes, finalists in the INDEX: Awards, is responding to the housing shortage in the larger cities, where prices have risen 53 percent in four years, offering 3-D printing of the parts on site, cutting them to size with a CNC machine and assembling the pieces much like Lego blocks. The homes are designed on a computer with every minor detail factored in, including appropriate holes cut for wiring, plumbing and insulation. This enables construction of a four-bedroom modular home within a week, with considerable savings in time and materials, according to woodworkingnetwork.com.
