Efforts continue to assist New Jersey residents who are still without adequate housing following Hurricane Sandy nearly 18 months ago, according to app.com. A Superstorm Sandy Housing Expo is being held in Long Branch, New Jersey, sponsored by the state Department of Community Affairs (DCA) with representatives from several housing and assistance agencies, including the Renter Assistance Program which provides up to $15,000 for storm-affected residents. Meanwhile, homeowners displaced by the storm who are living in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) manufactured homes and/or at the former Fort Monmouth military base in temporary units will be charged fair market rent beginning May 1, MHProNews.com has learned. “Housing fairs such as these, coupled with our efforts to assist people in rebuilding their homes and increase the state’s long-term affordable rental housing stock, demonstrate the Christie Administration’s commitment to getting Sandy-impacted residents back in their homes,” DCA Commissioner Richard E. Constable III said in a news release.##
