Following a story MHProNews.com last posted Feb. 26, 2014 regarding a modular housing representative’s opposition to roundabouts on Iowa roads because semis hauling modular homes must take alternate routes due to a lack of maneuverable space, a roundabout will be built just west of Pinckneyville at the intersection of routes 13 and 154. According to Carrie Nelson of the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT), duquoin.com tells MHProNews.com a modular manufacturer near the intersection reportedly says the roundabout will make it easier for the trucks hauling modular units. The 18-foot wide lanes have a 27-foot truck apron around a 35-foot circle. State engineers report roundabouts reduce accidents by 38 percent. ##
