Meadowbrook Park MHC Reopens under new Ownership

Updating a story MHProNews.com last published May 7, 2014 regarding the owner of Meadowbrook Park manufactured housing community (MHC) in Richmond, Maine losing his license to operate because of ongoing water and sewage problems, new owner Rick Breton says he will spend $400,000 to upgrade the infrastructure and install 39 new homes. Russ Edwards had owned the community since 1987, and while he blames the community manager, John Wilson, for not paying him collected rents, which Edwards said made it unaffordable to make necessary repairs, Meadowbrook failed every inspection by the Manufactured Housing Board since 1990. Breton also paid $19,000 in liens to the town for back taxes, as well as $27,000 to the Richmond Utilities District for unpaid water and sewer bills, according to onlinesentinel.com.

Nine households that were moved out temporarily due to the sewage problems have returned, but no new residents will be able to move in until the problems are addressed and Breton’s company, Colonial Homes LLC obtains a license from the Manufactured Housing Board. Breton is also involved in ownership of 15 other communities, and is working with John Wilson to determine what Edwards owed him for managing the MHC. ##
