In the name of transparency, beginning in May, Louisiana House Bill 909 requires companies that provide homeowners insurance, including manufactured homes, to publish information on premiums, incurred losses and how the insurance company arrived at its rate. MHProNews has learned from dailycomet.com the information, which will be available on the Louisiana Department of Insurance’s website, can be garnered based on parish, Zip Code and peril going back for ten years. The bill unanimously passed the House and the Senate and Gov. Bobby Jindal signed it June 4, 2014. A sunset clause will end the measure in 2017 if it is not effective. ##
