According to IowaPolitics.com, a bill introduced in the Iowa State Senate would provide more rights for residents of manufactured homes, and make their overall dealings with community owners more transparent.  Iowa Legal Aid testified to having received 500 inquiries from residents between January 2008 and October 2010.  Senator Tom Courtney says, “We want to give manufactured home owners very modest, basic rights—rights that most apartment renters already have.  Right now the law is completely lopsided in favor of the owners.”  He says it is embarrassing and shameful that “an-out-of state company systematically preyed on Iowans and the law was unable to stop it.”  There is a companion bill in the Iowa House.
