After the manufactured home of Mary and Dick Deweese was sited on a homesite at the Worthington Arms Manufactured Home Community in Lewis Center, Ohio, it began sliding towards a creek that ran beside it, according to what 10tv tells MHProNews. Dick Deweese said he has to put tape around the door to keep wind from coming in.
Two inspectors for the Ohio Manufactured Home Commission (OHMC) investigated the home. One, Gary Whitaker, found nothing wrong; the second one, Jared Rose, found a series of installation problems, and wrote the Deweese’s a letter documenting the dangers inside their home. He soon after left his state job.
Although Whitaker was accused of falsifying his time sheets and missing inspections, the director of the OHMC, Janet Williams, backed Whitaker, but the State Inspector General’s Office recommended changes in documenting inspections.
Williams canceled an interview with the TV station because she fears a lawsuit from the Deweese’s. A video of the home showed an unlevel floor, walls cracking and weeds coming up through the floor. Dick Deweese, saying they have no intention to move, said he will take money from his own pocket to fix the home if necessary, but thinks someone else should pay for the needed repairs.
MHProNews noticed no mention was made of who sited the home nor how long ago it was sited. ##
