A fire at modular homebuilder Keiser Homes in Oxford, Maine started around 4:45 this afternoon in a stack of plywood after employees had left for the day, according to a report by pressherald. Fire Chief Wayne Jones said the fire spread only about 20 feet into the building, and a sprinkler system initially kept the fire in check.
While firefighters were able to contain the fire, it still required five hours to get the fire under control, utilizing personnel from over a half-dozen near-by towns. One firefighter was transported to a hospital for heat exhaustion, while another was treated at the scene for a minor injury.
A fire crew was expected to spend the night at the scene to make sure the blaze did not flare up. Information as to the dollar loss was not immediately available.
