An order by the Prince George City Council of British Columbia, Canada for the Lombardy Mobile Home Park to clean up unsightly property has only been partially adhered to, so city crews will go in and make sure the remainder of the order is fulfilled. A report indicates abut half the manufactured home (MH) properties met the July 20 deadline, according to what princegeorgecitizen tells MHProNews.
Speaking on behalf of Lombardy Management, June Geisser said the MH the city asked to be demolished are owned by individuals, not by the community owner, and the Residential Tenancy Act does not allow the community owner to tear them down. She added if the city would assume responsibility for a lawsuit
Lombardy would remove them.
Administrative services director Walter Babicz said clean-up orders were given to Lombardy and to the individual owners, but only the community management has asked for reconsideration. He added, “We can’t give advice to the landlord in terms of how to proceed but I note that the Manufactured Home (Park) Tenancy Act does allow for a tenancy to be ended if the manufactured home site is to be vacated in order to comply with an order of a municipal government authority and that’s what we have here.”
Planning and development general manager Ian Wells said the city will hire contractors to demolish the burned-out MH and the crumbling concrete foundations. ##
