From knoxnews MHProNews has learned Clayton Homes, of Maryville, TN has acquired Georgia-based Chafin Communities, a residential community developer and home builder for an undisclosed price, adding Clayton to the site-built industry.
Keith Holdbrooks, president of the Clayton home building group, said, “It means that we are expanding our home offerings to include all types of housing, so we will be answering more lifestyle needs for different types of families.”
Included in the deal are 1,100 building lots, developed and undeveloped for this company located in Buford, GA, as MHProNews has learned, just northeast of Atlanta. Founded in 1996 by brothers Eric and Daryl Chafin, the firm has built over 4,500 homes in 50 communities. The brothers will continue operating the business, and will bring 25 Chafin employees into the Clayton fold.
“We have focused on growing our business, to allow more homebuyers to experience the Chafin difference – to get more,” Daryl Chafin said. “This acquisition greatly furthers that goal.”
Clayton Homes is the largest producer of manufactured homes in the nation, with some 45 percent of the market share.##
