Following a story MHProNews published Dec. 18, 2015 regarding a proposed addition to Carrington Pointe MHC in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the Fort Wayne Board of Zoning Appeals postponed a decision on the project to allow the applicant, Sun Secured Financing LLC, more time to review staff concerns over a retention pond that may attract waterfowl.
Although the Fort Wayne Planning Commission and the City Council have approved the project, the proximity to Fort Wayne’s Smith Field airport could potentially lead to dangerous bird collisions from the waterfowl drawn to the retention pond. The Federal Aviation Administration says birds have damaged and brought down airplanes.
Airport officials have asked that the pond dry out within 48 hours, according to journalgazette. Speaking on behalf of Sun, Daniel Byam asked for 60 days to review the concerns, a request that was unanimously granted by the board. ##
