New Jersey reports that Mercer Mobile Home Park in Robbinsville, New Jersey, is being bought by a non-profit group, Allies Inc., with part of the funding coming from Robbinsville’s affordable housing public trust fund. The 140 homesite community will meet the city’s requirement for investing in affordable housing. Many of the residents are seniors on fixed incomes. Allies spokesman Don Tretola looks forward to the relationship with the residents being more of a partnership than tenant-owner, and is considering changing the name to reflect manufactured homes. Residents had long complained about the sewer system, which Allies has agreed to repair. Allies, which provides recreation, employment and housing for people with special needs, expects the transaction to close in 90 days.
