Following up on a news story from March 4, 2011, WSLS10 in Roanoke, Virginia, says the modular dormitory Ferrum College ordered in the spring was completely assembled in three days, as workmen set in place the last of the 42 units that comprise the building. College President Jennifer Braaten says, “Not many companies can deliver an entire building within a three-to-six month time frame.” Frank Hodges of Mod-U-Kraf, the manufacturer, says its sturdiness comes from being mechanically fastened and glued, which makes it as sturdy as traditional construction. Workmen will need a couple of months to finish the electrical and plumbing work, in time for Dyer Hall to be occupied this fall.
