From North Carolina, the Fay Observer reports the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide manufactured homes in North Carolina counties hardest hit by the April 16 tornadoes. In the 18 counties declared disaster areas by the federal government, there are almost 1,000 homes destroyed or uninhabitable that will receive furnished two and three bedroom residences. The FEMA homes will be distributed in counties that have the least rental housing available. The governor’s office said FEMA has already distributed $2.2 million to many of the victims left homeless to help them secure rental housing.
