The Gadsden Times in Alabama reports that U.S. Representative Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.) will introduce CJ’s Home Protection Act requiring manufactured housing producers to install weather alert radios in their new homes.  Named for C.J. Martin, a young boy who died with his grandmother and great-grandmother during a tornado in Indiana in 2005, Rep. Bachus says he is trying to save lives and minimize injuries.  CJ’s Bus is in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, aiding survivors of last week’s tornadoes that lashed the state.  Sherry Norris, Executive Director of the Alabama Manufactured Home Association, says the association does not oppose the bill, but would like to see the radios in all homes.  She says, “When a tornado of 140 mph to 200 mph hits, a manufactured home is not going to be safe and a site-built home is not going to be safe.”
