Informed sources tell MHMSM that the final SAFE (Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act) Act rule has left the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).  The final rule is now back at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) going through the final clearance process.  It is not known when the final rule will be published, but we are clearly nearing the end of the rule making process.  After HUD’s review and clearance, it can be published in final form.  HUD officials are mum about the final content of the rule at this time.  MHMSM will provide additional details as they become available.
