Following up on a series of stories we published about rent control ending in Oceanside, California communities, the last one being May 26, the San Diego Union reports the battle is heating up again, Southern California style.  After the city spent millions to defend rent control, the Oceanside City Council voted to repeal rent control on homes in factory-built communities once the ownership changes.  The residents have until June 23 to obtain 7,500 signatures to ask for a referendum on overturning the measure.  The community owners say they are losing money on their investment, and cannot afford proper upkeep.  Those on fixed incomes will suffer the most from the new rule, and it is expensive to move a residence.  There are 426 land lease communities (LLC) encompassing 40,000 residents in San Diego County.
