NWCN reports from Spokane, Washington, that the city will use a double-section manufactured home as a fire station for at least five years. Without capital to build a new firehouse, the city will spend $10,000 to buy this facility from the Valley Fire Department, and construct an over-sized garage to house equipment. The fire station will be included in the Spokane International Airport Technology Park, and the city will hire 12 new firefighters to staff it. “Realistically, it doesn’t look like our existing fire stations, but it is a fully capable fire station,” said Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer.
