Iowa Fire Marshal Distributing Free Smoke Alarms

In a special report from Joe Kelly of the Iowa Manufactured Housing Association (IMHA), MHMSM.com has learned that State Fire Marshal Ray Reynolds, in commemorating the 100th anniversary of the state fire marshal’s office, wants to make sure every Iowa house has functioning smoke alarms.  He met with the IMHA board of directors for their support in encouraging manufactured housing communities to distribute free smoke alarms to residents who do not have smoke alarms, or have alarms that do not work.  In conjunction with the Iowa Firefighters Association (IFA), Reynolds has asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for a $500,000 grant for the project.  He has also enlisted the support of 19 Iowa businesses.
