The New Haven Independent in Connecticut asserts that Garden Homes Management Corporation has plans to develop two manufactured home communities in Oxford. The filing with the Planning and Zoning Commission for the first proposal, called Oxford Commons, would have 99 multi-section manufactured homes on 32 acres. The second project, Donovan Meadows, calls for 14 age-restricted multi-section homes on 8.5 acres. An earlier Garden Homes proposal for 142 units was denied by the commission but was subsequently overturned in court. Richard Freedman, president of Garden Homes, says the new projects have been moved away from wetland areas, in accordance with the Inland Wetlands agency. The manufactured homes will sell for $125,000 to $140,000. The commission will set a hearing date at its next meeting, Aug. 4. Garden Homes ranks 29 on the 2011 Allen Report’s largest land lease communities (LLCs) in North America.
