The AP, Post Register, Seattle Times, and several others in local, regional and national media are reporting on in the Idaho State attorney general’s reported investigation of a manufactured home retailer. The operation also sells towable RVs.
Hathaway Homes Group LLC, based in St. Anthony, ID, reportedly faces millions in court judgments from creditors. Additionally, the state’s AG is investigating charges of alleged violations of state consumer protection laws.
Spokesman Scott Graf declined to comment on the ongoing investigation. Owners Paul and Mikki Hathaway of St. Anthony filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this month.
Given the lack of comments from the retailer and his counsel to give balance to mainstream media reports, MHProNews turned to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to learn what consumers had stated to them about the Hathaway Homes’ operation.
According to the BBB, one consumer reviewer said, “I would highly discourage anyone from buying a home from Hathaways. They are dishonest and they do not do what they say they will. The owner lies and does not represent what he sells. Bad business ethics all around.”
But the first of a pair of consumers to the BBB stated, “I had no problems with Hathaway Homes was very happy with the staff and my home. Paul was very helpful and willing to make the changes I desired. Set up and delivery went very smooth as well.”
An RV buyer told the BBB, “I purchased a trailer from Hathaway homes and was very satisfied with my purchase. I had a few things I wanted fixed on it before I picked it up and without any hesitation or questions Hathaway Homes fixed everything I asked. I would do business with them again in the future. We have really enjoyed our upgraded travel trailer. Thank you!”
