What kind of impression is this going to make for the manufactured home industry?
Get ready to find out, because famous pimp, legal brothel owner, and HBO “Cathouse” star Dennis Hof has won his primary contest in Nevada, where prostitution is legal.
Pimp Dennis Hof, owns several legal brothels, at least some of which use manufactured homes on their locations in Nevada.
The HBO adult reality series “Cathouse,” won a Republican primary for the state Legislature on Tuesday, ousting a three-term lawmaker, says the Las Vegas Sun.
Hof defeated a hospital executive, James Oscarson. He’ll be running against Democrat Lesia Romanov in November.
Hof may be the favored candidate in the Republican-leaning Nevada State Assembly district.
Hof celebrated his victory at a party in Pahrump with Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss at his side. The pair are shown in the featured image, in the collage at the start of this post.
“It’s all because Donald Trump was the Christopher Columbus for me,” Hof told the Associated Press (AP) in a phone call. “He found the way and I jumped on it.”
Art of the Pimp
Hof wrote a book entitled “The Art of the Pimp,” and dubbed himself “The Trump of Pahrump.”
Hof held a rally with longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone.
Hof has periodically been in the news due to local scandals.
For instance, in 2015, he made the news “when former NBA player Lamar Odom was found unconscious at Hof’s Love Ranch brothel in Crystal after a four-day, $75,000 stay,” said AP.
Oprah’s network did he report below, which shows a custom shower in the manufactured home.
If Hof wins in November, he will join another brothel owner in elected office — Lance Gilman, the proprietor of the famous Mustang Ranch in Northern Nevada. Gilman is a Storey County commissioner.
Closing Down the Sex Shops?
Voters in November will also be voting on closing down brothels in at least one of the seven Nevada counties where they’re legally operating. The question will be on the ballot in Lyon County, where Hof owns four brothels.
Anti-brothel activists are gathering signatures for a ballot petition for a similar measure in Nye County, where Hof owns two more brothels in the desert outside Pahrump.
Hof said the anti-brothel efforts are political retribution tied to his opponent, but Oscarson and the referendum backers deny any kind of connection.
Brothels are banned in the counties that contain Las Vegas and Reno, so most are found in more rural areas.
What image will this paint manufactured housing? Time will tell. But it’s part of the ‘reality check’ that industry pros ought to be aware of that influences the public, and thus the sale of homes. Needless to say, conventional housing is used for similar purposes.
Long-time Daily Business News readers will recall that scandal plagued social security disability attorney, Eric Conn, used manufactured homes as part of his “office complex” in Kentucky. Or recall the slam by Clinton advisor, James Carville.
As an unusual video counterweight to those slams on manufactured homes and their occupants is the performer Kid Rock video, Po-Dunk, linked below. For those stories, click the link under related reports, further below. ## (News, analysis, and commentary.)
