The Pemberton News in Pemberton, British Columbia, Canada says funding for the 22-unit modular senior apartment complex has been completed and will now be built. The federal and provincial governments had provided funding, but the units were to be built in a floodplain that required additional funds. The Pemberton Lions Club took out a $100,000 loan, and the Village of Pemberton had earlier provided fill material and transportation of materials before winter hit so the site would be ready. Each modular unit will be 550 square feet with a bedroom, bath, living room and kitchen. Applicants must be 55 or older or have a registered disability and less than $100,000 in assets. The project will be finished by fall.
