The New York Housing Association (NYHA) will once again host the annual Spring Symposium and Legislative Summit May 5-6, 2014 in Albany at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center, similar to last year at this time, as MHProNews reported April 24, 2013. State Senator Catharine Young, Housing Committee Chair, and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, who have both introduced “The Affordable Housing Act” in their respective chambers, will each address the attendees at a Legislative Reception. MHProNews has learned Rick Robinson, Vice President of Government Affairs of the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) will present issues and activities at the federal level, and Jeffrey Barringer of McGlinchey Stafford LLC will discus the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s regulations as they affect manufactured housing.
A panel of state agency representatives including Ron Piester, head of the Department of State Division of Standards and Codes, Nancy Port, Department of Health, and Jennifer Langley from the Division of Homes & Community Renewal will lead a question and answer session. On display just outside the Capitol Building will be a new 1,497 square foot manufactured home with three bedrooms and two baths for participants to view.
