Continuing to follow the saga of the Dublin, Ireland, City Council’s attempts to site 500 modular homes to house homeless families in several different areas of the city, as MHProNews last reported Jan. 11, 2016, residents of Belcamp, Coolock are opposing plans to site 38 of the units in their neighborhood.
Fine Gael Councillor Declan Flanagan said residents would welcome permanent homes but do not like the idea of modular homes, according to herald.ie.
People living in Finglas and Drimnagh have threatened legal action to stave off the siting of the modular homes in their neighborhoods, while in Poppintree the housing units are going up.
The first site selected by the city council was for a fast track delivery of 22 of the homes by Christmas in Ballymun, but bad weather and two protests at the site have so far staved off completion, which is now scheduled for mid-February. ##
