Derek Tansell and his partner Sharon Snook were denied the right to site a manufactured home in a rural area of Chapmansdale Parish, England, in order for someone to live on the premises and take care of the couple’s alpacas, ponies, chickens, horses and ducks.
According to fromestandard, the couple said previously they do not need planning permission because they had “permitted development rights” with which Wiltshire Council disagreed. Tansell and Snook submitted an application siting the need for a rural workers dwelling as well as alterations to gain access to the building once it was placed.
Councillor Francis Morland said there is not enough evidence that alpacas need more care than horses or any other animals, and asked how the couple was still serving as councillors in Frome and Somerset but not living in the county. Primarily, the councillors of Chapmansdale objected to the disturbance to the open countryside and nearby neighbors. MHProNews has learned the Wiltshire Council planning committee will consider the application at its meeting in December. ##
